Hiroshi Sugimoto
Hiroshi Sugimoto is the first artists I found researching my chosen theme what was machines. Sugimoto's work is a range of different machines that spin, grab, glow and are used for different things. what I like about his work is he has made the object stand out by adding a black backboard and getting close to a certain part of the machine to make the audience and viewers look at what he wants them to see. By most of the work he has made Sugimoto is very interested in machines with gears and movement that is easy to know just by looking at a still image also he uses a lack of colour in any of his images on machines.

richard kagan
I came across Richard kagan as I was researching my previous artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. What these two artists have in common is they both use no colour in their pictures and they both have their pictures taken in the same angle, this gives the same emotions and thoughts to their audiences. But what Richard has done differently to Sugimoto's work is instead of using a machine that does the same job. Richard has done a range of different machines that do different job's and some of the machines are just to play with, also Richard's work is more old as you can tell by the rust coming off of the machines unlike Hiroshi's work what looked like it is polished and clean. what I like about Richard's work is he uses different objects of different sizes having them either stand up, lay down, zoom in on one part or the opposite.

Len Mitchell
Len Mitchell is another photographer that does machines but instead of presenting the machines in front of a black backboard like what richard kagan and Hiroshi Sugimoto did with their images Mitchell has went out and found machines with big gears and other big parts. Len Mitchel has also zoomed into most of his images showing either one part of the whole machine or various parts that are all linked together. what this Len Mitchell has done that is similar to the other artists I have researched is he has not added any colour to the image and has made it black and white. even though he has taken images of different machines, making the images tonal like the other artists it gives Mitchell's audience the same thoughts and emotions to Hiroshi and Richard's audience.

for my homework I did a range of images related to machines. the objects I took images of where found in my house. mostly in my kitchen I found machines that twist, cut and control other machines in the house. for example I took a image of both a light and switch. and put them together the reason I took the picture of the switch was because it is a machine but not a lot o people see it like that so by taking the picture of the light and switch shoes that they are both machines.
What I have done is I have selected 5 of my favourite images from my previous 20 images that I like and have placed them onto their own gallery. what I like about these images Is It is clear to see that the theme is machines. what went well with these is they are all different shapes and sizes making the images not identical. these would be better If things like the 1st image showed the the wires and other things inside the cable making it look better.

Martin dürr
Martin dürr, my 4th artist, what Martin does that is different to the other artists I have looked at and what I find interesting about him is his range of photos pacifically on car engines and car parts, what Martin does is he zooms into a certain part of the machine that he is wanting the audience to see. For example In the first image he has zoomed into the badge of the machine and has made the focus stronger so you can see the rust and detail of the badge. What Martin has done like all the other artists I have researched is he has added no colour to any of his images, with that he has not given or shown any emotions in his images.

These images I have taken were another range of machines that I found all around my house. The images that I had taken. were responses to Martin dürr and Richard Kagen, what helped me do a good response to these two artists was I looked at what angle the camera is taking the image at, how close they are to the object (Machine). and what lighting do they have. In my point of view I have made a good outcome, using the artists techniques to help me make a good response.
Experimentation
further experimentation
After my first selection of images I had then went into images to edit my best photos. I did a mixture of different colours, lighting, zoom and compositions towards my photos, so not one is the same. What I like about these images is they are different compared to any artist I have looked at. This is because the artist I have researched all have their images in black and white and have one type of machine for example Len Mitchell

machines: blue
looking over my experiments I was thinking of trying to change something in the images that will stand out from all my previous experimentations. strait away I thought of changing the colour this is because in most of the research I've done there has been no colour so I thought doing something different towards every other artist it'll make my work stand out more.
